After moving to Asheville in 2001, Willie started working in various local theatres, eventually settling into the burgeoning North Carolina Stage Company in 2002. Hans talked him into co-founding ITP in 2004, the same year that saw the creation of The
Redundant Theatre Company Theatre, which he also co-founded. Since then, he has produced more than a dozen shows with the two companies; played with a small contra band, Mock Turtle Soup; secured gainful employment at the NC Shakespeare Festival and Flat Rock Playhouse; joined Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers; and of course married his sweetheart and had a perfectly delightful daughter.
